Why I Wrote It
I found that I kept (and keep) getting the same questions and concerns over and over from survivors and care partners. It makes sense.
Someone has a stroke every 40 seconds in the U.S.
So not only do we see more stroke survivors daily, I’ve heard from (and witnessed) so many survivors that did not get the basic education on what to expect with stroke recovery in the hospital. Or if they did, they weren’t in a place to really comprehend it.
You may have been able to tell by previous posts and articles that I’m not super happy with the way the U.S. healthcare system cares for stroke survivors.
In response to this, my goal has been to route around the system by providing free and low-cost resources to survivors regardless of insurance status.
Thus, The Stroke Recovery Pocket Guide was born. This little eBook is meant to give you a brief overview of the questions and concerns most asked by stroke survivors and care partners. Questions like what is the timeline for stroke recovery? What is neuroplasticity? How do I manage neuro-fatigue? How do I deal with mental health changes?
This eBook was written by combining my knowledge and experience with the input of many stroke survivors’ experiences. It wouldn’t be complete without their contributions!
I hope that you find this eBook helpful on your recovery journey. Share it with any survivors or care partners you know. Please reach out with any feedback or thoughts!
